Why We Partner With Self-Reliant Gaushalas

A gaushala is, at its simplest, a shelter for cows. But the gaushalas we partner with are something more: small, self-reliant communities where the care of indigenous cows and the livelihoods of the people around them are the same project.

Most of the people employed at our partner gaushalas are above the age of 50 — a group that rural India's job market rarely makes room for. Feeding, milking, and tending cows, and processing Panchagavya ingredients from their by-products, gives them steady, dignified work instead of dependence.

In return, every rupee we spend on raw material — cow dung, milk, ghee, curd, urine — goes back into the gaushala's upkeep: better shelters, veterinary care, and fodder security through dry seasons. It is a small, circular economy, and it scales with every order placed.

We visit our partner gaushalas regularly, not to inspect from a distance but to understand what they need next. Sometimes that is a new water source. Sometimes it is simply more consistent orders. Either way, the relationship outlasts any single product line.
